Glossary of "Cladistics (2nd ed.)" by Kitching et al. (1998)
- A consensus tree formed from only those components common to all members of a set of fundamental cladograms. In a restricted sense, a strict consensus tree may be considered to be the only consensus tree that results from a true consensus. All other consensus methods permit the inclusion of at least some components that are not present in all of the fundamental cladograms and thus produce compromise trees.
Glossary of Plant Systematics (1st ed.) by Simpson (2006)
- A consensus tree that collapses any differences in branching pattern between two or more cladograms to a polytomy.
