consistency index (ci, CI)
- A measure of the amount of homoplasy in a character relative to a given cladogram. The consistency index is calculated as the ratio of m, the minimum number of steps a character can exhibit on any cladogram, to s, the minimum number of steps the same character can exhibit on the cladogram in question. - A measure of the relative amount of homoplasy in a cladogram, equal to the ratio of the minimum possible number of character state changes to the actual number of changes that occur.
