- A line on a cladogram connecting two nodes (internal branch), a node and the root (basal branch) or a node and a terminal taxon (terminal branch). Also known as an internode.
Glossary of "A Botanist's Vocabulary" by Pell & Angell (2016)
- 1. stem arising from another stem; 2. the divarication of one structure into smaller versions or segments of that structure; 3. the action of producing a divarication, as in branches of trees or veins in leaves.
