- 総合科学部のシンボルツリーに指定されている．
- 東広島キャンパスでは広く植栽されており，教育学部から総合科学部までに多く植えられ「けやき通り」と呼ばれている．

- Beautiful tree shape like an inverted broom and often grown as an ornamental plant on the roadsides or in gardens. Flowers bloom as the new leaves develop. Outstanding autumn foliage.

- Designated as the symbol tree of School of Integrated Arts and Sciences.
- Widely planted in Higashi-hiroshima campus, with many growing from School of Education to School of Integrated Arts and Sciences, also known as “Keyaki-dori” or “Zelkova Street”.
