- A type of tracheary element that is perforate, in which continuous holes or perforations in the cell walls occur through which water and mineral nutrients flow between cells.

- Tube-like structure of the xylem composed of elongated cells joined end to end and connected by perforations. The function of vessel members is to transport water and minerals through the plant body. They are found in nearly all flowering plants and some ferns.
