Glossary of "Environmental Science: Earth as a Living Planet (2nd ed.)" by Botkin & Keller (1998)
- The process of determining potential adverse environmental health effects to people following exposure to pollutants and other toxic materials. Generally includes the four steps of identification of the hazard, dose-response assessment, exposure assessment, and risk characterization.
