Glossary of "The Cell (5th ed.)" by Alberts et al. (2008)
- In developmental biology, an individual organism made of a mixture of cells with different genotypes, but developed from a single zygote. Mosaics can arise naturally, as a result of mutation in cells that gice rise to new tissues, or can be made deliberately to aid genetic analysis. Compare chimera.
