Glossary of "Cladistics (2nd ed.)" by Kitching et al. (1998)
- A method of cladogram construction in which the different states of each character are first organized into transformation series and polarized using out group comparison and known, fixed out group relationships. The synapomorphies so revealed are used to construct the cladogram. See Hennigian argumentation; simultaneous, unconstrained analysis.
