Glossary of "Environmental Science: Earth as a Living Planet (2nd ed.)" by Botkin & Keller (1998)
- When the interaction between two species leads to changes in the presence or absence of other species or in a large change in abundance of other species, then a community effect is said to have occurred. Here, a two-species interaction affects the entire community.
