Description
- Endemic subspecies destributed in Honshu, Shikoku, and Kyushu, Japan.
- Destributed among southern minor islands, inland, and mountains of northern part of Hiroshima Pref.
- In Miyajima Island, living along the streams, widely distributed from lowland to montane region.
- Breeds from April to May in slowly flowing underground water on banks of montane stream.
- Larva with ability to metamorphose even without feeding and starts land life.
- In Miyajima Island, we can see young frogs after metamorphosis jumping among litter on forest floors in July.
- In non-breeding season, we can see among the litter on forest floors along the streams.
